Drinking Water Research Foundation

The U.S. based Drinking Water Research Foundation (DWRF) is an independent not-for-profit 501(C)3 foundation that was founded in 1984 to sponsor peer-reviewed scientific research that addresses the production of safe and affordable drinking water, including bottled water.  Research verifies, identifies, and often solves current and potential problems that confront our world’s drinking water supplies.  The growth and development of the drinking water industry are important and research will aid in this growth.

DWRF was established:

  • To conduct research and disseminate information regarding production of safe and affordable drinking water, including bottled water.
  • To evaluate alternative techniques for production and delivery of drinking water under emergency conditions.
  • To provide education for the public regarding drinking water quality, production and delivery.

DWRF remains dedicated to the continuous development of scientific research in areas of interest to consumers and the drinking water industry, including bottled water.  Scientific results obtained through DWRF-sponsored research projects are recognized nationally and internationally as important reference tools by which to support and sustain drinking water industry growth and development.  For more details, please visit www.thefactsaboutwater.org.

DWRF is governed by a board of trustees that is composed of scientists from academia and government as well as distinguished business leaders.  The trustees devote their expertise and vast knowledge in business and scientific disciplines relevant to the bottled water industry to ensure that research funded by DWRF will provide cutting-edge results and remain germane to the bottled water industry.
