Sacramento Employee Earns National Route Salesperson of the Year Award

Alexandria, VA – The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) has announced today that Sacramento, California employee Jon Cleaver is the winner of its prestigious Route Salesperson of the Year award for 2020.

Mr. Cleaver, a route salesperson for Primo Water North America, Inc., was awarded the honor during IBWA’s Annual General Meeting, which was held as part of the 2020 IBWA Virtual Annual Business Conference, which was held virtually.

Mr. Cleaver has been a route salesperson at Primo Water for 13 years, and is known for being highly dependable and extremely helpful to both his customers and his colleagues.

“Jon is a tremendous team player who regularly demonstrates the behaviors needed to be successful in this business,” said IBWA Convention Committee Co-Chair Dan Kelly. “His calm demeanor is a character trait that those around him strive to emulate. Jon takes safety seriously and has helped improve the safety culture at Primo Water’s Sacramento branch. He also has extremely high standards and challenges himself to improve daily—so it’s no wonder why all of Jon’s teammates look up to him so much.”

When he isn’t working, Mr. Cleaver coaches local youth sports teams and often volunteers for events at his son Liam’s school.

He’s also an avid biker and has competed in multiple Spartan races.

“Jon leads by example and sets a standard that his teammates strive to attain,” said Kelly. “Primo Water is very fortunate to have Jon as a member of its team, and it is our honor to present this award to him today.”

IBWA has been recognizing the efforts of bottled water industry professionals since 1963. As ambassadors of the bottled water industry, route salespeople are on the front lines of customer service, and—through them—the bottled water industry has direct contact and connection with customers.

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) is the authoritative source of information about all types of bottled waters, including spring, mineral, purified, artesian, and sparkling. Founded in 1958, IBWA’s membership includes U.S. and international bottlers, distributors and suppliers. IBWA is committed to working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates bottled water as a packaged food product, to set comprehensive and stringent standards for safe, high-quality bottled water products.

In addition to FDA regulations, IBWA member bottlers must adhere to the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice, which mandates additional standards and practices that in some cases are more stringent than federal and state regulations. A key feature of the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice is a mandatory annual plant inspection by an independent, third-party organization.
