MINUTES

 

 

I. Call Meeting to Order

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman of the Technical Committee Al Lear, Wissahickon Spring Water, Inc.

 

II. Attendance

III. Approval of Minutes

It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes of the January 15, 2003 Packaging Subcommittee meeting.

 

IV. Work Groups

The Packaging Subcommittee Work Groups gave a brief overview of their work in progress. Copies of three written documents that the HDPE/PET/Caps and Closures Work Group are working with/on were presented to the Subcommittee for review ( High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Packing for the Bottled Water Industry ; Packaging Materials 1. Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) for Food Packaging Applications , and Plastic Closure Manufacturing Overview ). Any comments that Packing Subcommittee members may have on the documents are to be provided to IBWA staff by the end of July 2003.

The Bottler Troubleshooting Work Group has prepared a draft of guidelines for product sample retention. The draft guidelines were shared with members of the Packaging Subcommittee.

The Flavor Profiling and Analytical Work Group discussed the flavor wheel that was provided to the Subcommittee by the Water Quality Association. Joe Cimino from Northern Springs, Inc. will provide the Flavor Profiling and Analytical Work Group with a list of taste problems as provided by Jonathan Dyer.

 

V. New Business

No new business was presented for discussion.

 

VI. Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
