Sales Specialist Earns Prestigious Industry Award
Alexandria, VA – The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) announced today that Marge Eggie, sales specialist at Newtown Square, PA-based Polymer Solutions International (PSI), is a recipient of the prestigious Kristin Safran/IBWA Board of Directors’ Award for 2020.
The announcement was made during IBWA’s Annual Business Meeting, which was held virtually as part of the 2020 IBWA Annual Business Conference.
Ms. Eggie has worked in the bottled water industry with the PSI team for more than 20 years. She has been an active member of IBWA for more than 10 years and has been heavily involved with the association’s Membership Committee, where she has served as a co-chair for the last five years.
“Marge never misses an opportunity to try to recruit new members to the association,” says IBWA Convention Committee Co-Chair Dan Kelly. “She has singlehandedly brought several new companies in to join IBWA—and she has worked with staff on numerous marketing projects to help educate non-members about IBWA and recruit new members. Marge is continuously looking for the next opportunity to promote the value of IBWA membership to non-members.”
She also had a significant role in helping the association revamp its membership database in 2015.
Ms. Eggie is an active advocate for the association, participating in IBWA’s Capitol Hill events to help educate members of Congress about the bottled water industry.
“Her strong commitment to IBWA and genuine willingness to help wherever she is needed is something to behold,” says Kelly. “Marge and I were fortunate to be friends with this award’s namesake, Kristin Safran, who is among the best examples of IBWA advocacy and leadership I’ve ever met.”
Created in 2006, the IBWA Directors’ Award recognizes members whose advocacy, commitment, and actions on behalf of IBWA—and the bottled water industry—have achieved clear and measurable results for both IBWA and the bottled water industry as a whole. In 2009, the award was renamed the Kristin Safran/IBWA Directors’ Award in honor of former IBWA Board of Directors member Kristin Safran.

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) is the authoritative source of information about all types of bottled waters, including spring, mineral, purified, artesian, and sparkling. Founded in 1958, IBWA’s membership includes U.S. and international bottlers, distributors and suppliers. IBWA is committed to working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates bottled water as a packaged food product, to set comprehensive and stringent standards for safe, high-quality bottled water products.
In addition to FDA regulations, IBWA member bottlers must adhere to the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice, which mandates additional standards and practices that in some cases are more stringent than federal and state regulations. A key feature of the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice is a mandatory annual plant inspection by an independent, third-party organization.
